The Visit

There is very nice line from a movie about pain: “…pain demands to be felt…” But I feel this was a bit incomplete; “…but better if shared in love…” For today, I spent brooding to visit a dying friend,.. after friends at OCC told me to visit him, for this might be his last few days. I eventually did, at St Luke QC. In his room I met her wife and son. He was thin, and as of all cancer victims, un-recognizable from the jolly face I used to know. I introduced myself as a friend, and in slow and in hallowed tone, whispered to his wife about the sad news. Calmly, I tried to be consoling, but not remorseful…for not all hope are lost… I gave something to ease the cost of confinement, and bid goodbye. As I was leaving, I heard Domie called my name… But returned to his slumber…he is in and out of consciousness…likely effect of drugs… It is enough for me…to be recognized… It is enough for me…to share his pain… ... As I leave his room, I remember the moment of my mother’s death; We were around her death-bed, praying the rosary…and as we finished praying…she respired her last… As if she said: Share my death…as I shared my life to you… … My day was Sad…but still a Day worth sharing…
